Kumadai Magnesium Alloys pass the Flammability test developed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US.

At the end of March, Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) reported that both KUMADAI Non-flammable Magnesium Alloy and KUMADAI Heat-resistant Magnesium Alloy had clearly satisfied the standards of the flammability test developed by FAA. As a result, KUMADAI Magnesium Alloys have a strong possibility of being approved as the world’s first Magnesium alloy for aircrafts. Hereafter, it is expected that substantial progress will be made in the development of KUMADAI Magnesium Alloys for practical use in aircrafts. Furthermore, it is highly expected that full scale development of these alloys for use in aircraft body parts and interior components will commence, which Kumamoto University will conduct in collaboration with both domestic and overseas members of the aircraft industry.
